Job summary

Sonoco is seeking a Senior Manager/Director of Technical Accounting to assess accounting judgments and guide policy across the organization. The role reports to the Sr. Director - Corporate Controllership and offers hybrid work locations in Hartsville, SC or Charlotte, NC.

You will lead technical accounting analyses, policy updates, and coordination with auditors while ensuring adherence to US GAAP and SEC requirements. CPA and 9–12 years' experience, incl. Big 4, are preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of key technical accounting areas in US GAAP.
• Effective communication, planning and leadership skills.
• Strong project management and collaborative abilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess technical accounting issues in complex transactions.
• Provide guidance on accounting transactions with business leaders.
• Own policy writing, revision, and organization-wide application guidance.
• Understand changes to US GAAP, SEC guidance and PCAOB regulations.
• Lead impairment analyses for assets and monitor acquisition/disposition impacts.
• Support external reporting and audits with timely, accurate responses.
