Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Lead Tax Strategist to provide expert accounting and tax guidance for corporate, partnership, and individual returns. You will lead complex tax planning, compliance, and advisory services for a diverse client base.

Collaboration with clients and internal teams will drive process improvements and optimize tax outcomes. The role requires deep knowledge of tax regulations, strong communication, and leadership experience to manage office staffing and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent through education and related work experience.
• 8 years minimum related work experience.
• 8+ years accounting experience.
• 5+ years business tax/entity returns experience.
• Experience with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Advanced experience with integrated online accounting applications.
• Advanced oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to new tools and automation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complex tax statements, financial statements, and BAS at required intervals with high accuracy.
• Prepare tax returns and statements for audits with advanced knowledge of processes.
• Manage tax administration for assigned accounts including research and planning.
• Identify opportunities to minimize tax liability through deductions and credits.
• Engage with clients regularly to provide exceptional service and communication.
• Stay current with federal and state tax laws and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end analysis and data validation.
• Respond to tax inquiries and assist in audits with expert guidance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes.
