Job summary

Garmin is seeking a full-time International Trade Compliance Intern at our U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will support manufacturing and distribution operations by assisting with process design, documentation, and reporting on global product distribution. Responsibilities include import/export documentation review, DPL screening, EEI filing, and collaboration with Garmin Sourcing and vendors to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Logistics, Analytics, Business Administration (Finance), Economics, Engineering or related field.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher (approximate standard).
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

• Report classification information to Garmin Customs Brokers.
• Audit import and export documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Classify Garmin finished goods for import/export.
• Perform Denied Party screening for export and manage red flags.
• File EEI for Garmin’s U.S. exports.
• Coordinate with foreign vendors and Garmin Sourcing for documentation.
• Maintain regulatory record keeping.
• Compile international trade data for analysis and reporting.
• Assist with standardized international trade procedures and projects.
• Collaborate with internal/external customers and government agencies on best practices.

We are seeking a full-time

Overview

We are seeking a full-time International Trade Compliance Intern at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing aspects of manufacturing and distribution operations activities regarding production, warehousing, and global product distribution. Responsibilities for this role include process design/improvement, process documentation and checklist, cost/benefit analysis of projects, and reporting results to management.

Essential Functions

• Report classification information to Garmin Customs Brokers
• Audit import and export documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Basic classification of Garmin’s “finished good” products for import and export
• Denied Party (DPL) screening for export and managing red flags
• File Electronic Export Information (EEI) for Garmin’s U.S. exports
• Correspond with foreign vendors/suppliers and Garmin Sourcing to obtain documentation and information.
• Regulatory required record keeping
• Compile international trade data for analysis and reporting to ensure global import, export and supply chain security compliance and measure effectiveness
• Assist with the maintenance and implementation of standardized integrated international trade procedures, compliance implementations, and projects
• Maintain good working relationships and actively cooperate with internal and external customers, business partners, and applicable government agencies, to execute import and export best practices

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Logistics, Analytics, Business Administration (Finance), Economics, Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or other related field
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality

Desired Qualifications

• Previous International Trade Compliance experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication
