Job summary

Sherman + Reilly, Inc. in Chattanooga, TN, is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee quality across purchased and built parts. You will manage QPL program, ensure supplier documentation, and collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Production to drive containment, disposition and corrective actions.

You will develop process documentation with suppliers, work on root cause analysis, and ensure quality is built into design and manufacturing, with field impact considered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of supplier quality, manufacturing quality or quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on CMM experience, programming or operating, and ability to interpret CMM output (datum alignment, form, profile, measurement uncertainty).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and GD&T, and discuss with design engineers and supplier personnel.
• Structured problem solving and root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why) with knowledge of supplier quality evidence types (inspection records, MTRs, NDT, functional testing).

Responsibilities

• Verify supplier documentation meets QPL requirements before or at part acceptance.
• Be the main point of contact for suppliers on quality requirements and documentation.
• Manage quality issues from discovery through closure (containment, sort, disposition, return or rework).
• Lead root cause analysis with suppliers and drive corrective actions.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop process documentation and ensure requirements carry through to sub-tiers.
• Support inspection plan content and acceptance criteria based on criticality and supplier performance.
• Coordinate with Operations on internal inspection and nonconformance disposition.
