Sherman + Reilly, Inc. is a Chattanooga, TN-based manufacturer of tools and equipment for the electric utility industry.

We seek a Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee quality across purchased parts and in-house components, administering the QPL program and driving supplier documentation, containment, disposition, and root-cause actions with internal teams. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Production, and Service to build robust processes,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing or related technical field, or equivalent supplier quality experience.
• Three or more years of supplier quality, manufacturing quality or quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on CMM programming or operation and ability to interpret CMM outputs.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specs and GD&T; ability to discuss with design engineers and suppliers.
• Structured problem solving and root cause analysis such as 8D and 5-Why.
• Knowledge of inspection records, material test reports, non-destructive testing and functional testing.

Responsibilities

• Verify supplier documentation meets QPL requirements before or at part acceptance.
• Be the primary contact for quality questions from suppliers.
• Manage quality issues from discovery through closure including containment and disposition.
• Lead root cause analysis with suppliers and drive corrective action.
• Assist suppliers lacking formal process documentation to build it and ensure flow to sub-tiers.
• Support inspection plan content and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with Operations on internal inspection and nonconformance disposition.
