Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Senior Category Lead for the Steelwork category to drive strategic sourcing, develop category strategies, and strengthen the supply base for scalable growth. You will partner with Procurement, Engineering, Project Management, Solutions Development, Finance, Quality, and other teams to translate business needs into effective category and sourcing strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, supply chain, or related field.
• Experience developing and implementing category or sourcing strategies within a complex manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or project-based environment.
• Proven experience in the steel industry or related manufacturing sectors.
• Understanding assessing supplier capabilities, manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and market dynamics for Steelwork.
• Experience leading supplier negotiations and developing productive, long-term supplier relationships.
• Ability to track global factors and use market intelligence, cost modeling, or should-cost analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop, communicate, and implement a comprehensive Steelwork category strategy aligned with business needs and procurement objectives.
• Understand the steelwork supplier landscape, market conditions, and supply-chain trends.
• Identify and maintain sources of supply balancing quality, service, cost, capacity, and delivery.
• Lead strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations using market intelligence and scenario-based strategies.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Solutions Development, Quality, Finance, and Procurement to translate requirements into sourcing strategies.
• Develop category risk assessments and mitigation strategies to strengthen supply continuity.
• Apply financial expertise to cost models, should-cost analyses, and total cost of ownership considerations.
• Review supplier agreements and drive performance across quality, delivery, cost, and service.
• Monitor market and supplier developments to improve cost competitiveness and value.
