Job summary

Gallup-McKinley County Schools is seeking a Special Education Coordinator to guide the Educational Development Center within the Student Support Center. You will collaborate with the Director of Special Education to organize, lead, and monitor services for students with disabilities.

The role requires a Master’s degree, a Level III Instructional Leader License within 90 days, and at least five years of SPED teaching experience. Salary ranges from $114,995 to $121,383 for a 236‑day contract.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an educational or counseling field.
• Level III Instructional Leader License within 90 days of hire.
• Five or more years of successful teaching experience in a Special Education program.
• Preferred: Master’s or terminal degree in Special Education.
• Preferred: New Mexico K-12 Administrator license.
• Preferred: Direct experience supervising and evaluating Special Education staff.
• Preferred: Experience facilitating administrative staff in IDEA compliance.
• Knowledge of IEP writing and implementation process.

• Ensure that all students with disabilities receive FAPE through instructional programs and related services.
• Assist the Director of Special Education in policy development and compliance with state/federal regulations.
• Assist in coordinating staff development and homebound service delivery via IEPs.
