Job description

Strategic Sourcing Specialist, Global Corporate Procurement

Job ID: 10590117 | Amazon.com Services LLC - A57

Are you a Strategic Sourcing superstar looking to make a big impact? As Amazon rapidly becomes the world's largest consumer of corporate services, our Global Corporate Procurement team is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join us in Arlington, VA. Strategic Sourcing Specialists independently own one or more sourcing categories and manage strategic sourcing engagements as a central team supporting a wide range of Amazon and subsidiary business units. In this pivotal role, you'll design innovative sourcing strategies and lead sourcing engagements across a wide range of business units, owning and delivering against assigned spend and savings targets. Your mission? Improve performance, optimize efficiency, ensure top-notch quality, and enable new initiatives to launch and scale with lightning speed. Demonstrating a passionate commitment to procurement excellence, you will flawlessly handle and execute sourcing initiatives, communicating efficiently and effectively with stakeholders across various business units, regions, and categories, and presenting your recommendations to senior leaders. Adept at juggling multiple priorities, you will thrive in the fast-paced, dynamic environment, contributing to both short-term tactical and long-term strategic efforts.

Key job responsibilities

As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will independently manage semi-complex sourcing projects end to end and support complex sourcing projects from start to finish. This will involve closely engaging with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders to identify sourcing strategy that balances business needs, effort, and efficiencies.

  • Independently own one or more sourcing (sub-)categories, including the assigned spend and savings targets for your portfolio
  • Review spend data and market trends for key indirect spend categories
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to align on sourcing priorities and requirements, influencing matrixed stakeholders across business units
  • Conduct market research and prepare RFP documents for upcoming sourcing projects
  • Manage the RFP process, evaluate proposals, negotiate commercial deal terms and contracts, including standard commercial legal terms, and create award recommendations
  • Present supplier recommendations, negotiation outcomes, risk assessments, and sourcing results to leaders up to three levels above you
  • Partner across regions and categories within Global Corporate Procurement to share best practices and align on sourcing approaches
  • Contribute to the development of category management plans
  • Provide procurement analytics and insights to support data-driven decision making
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in strategic sourcing
A day in the life

Your morning might start with a cross-functional alignment call for an upcoming RFP involving three business units, followed by analyzing bid responses and building a recommendation deck for senior leadership. After lunch, you could be on a negotiation call with a strategic supplier's C-suite to finalize contract terms, then pivoting to a spend review with Finance to validate savings actuals against targets. You might close the day by coaching a business partner through the supplier evaluation framework for an upcoming engagement. No two days look the same — you will balance long-range strategic planning with hands‑on execution, often managing five or more active sourcing engagements simultaneously across different stages of the lifecycle.

About the team

Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) manages Amazon's indirect spend across Employee Services, Marketing, Professional Services, Technology, Logistics, and Real Estate and Facilities. We are a global team of sourcing professionals who combine analytical rigor with creative problem‑solving to deliver sustainable value at scale. Our culture values deep ownership, intellectual curiosity, and a bias for action — we move fast, but we move smart. Your work will be visible to senior leadership and directly tied to Amazon's bottom line.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with practicing best-in-class procurement processes (category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc.)
  • 5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing and category management in categories such as logistics, professional services, support or maintenance spend, supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience
  • Experience managing spend categories that include three or more of the following: Logistics, IT Software, IT Services, Corporate Services, Marketing, Contingent labor, Facilities and Real estate, Capital Expenditure and Tail Spend (Indirect Categories)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience in a non-mandated, indirect procurement function at a multinational corporation
  • Experience owning complex sourcing categories across multiple business units and/or regions
  • Experience managing categories in markets with limited competition or limited pricing transparency, including proactive supplier risk management
  • Experience leading transformational or cross-regional sourcing initiatives with global scope
  • Experience advising and presenting sourcing strategy to senior executives and influencing C-level vendor relationships
  • Experience contributing to annual or long-range operating plans
  • Experience mentoring peers or coordinating sourcing work across a distributed team
