Job summary

The L.S. Starrett Company in Athol, MA is hiring a Strategic Sourcing Buyer to lead sourcing for assigned commodities and supplier categories. You will collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Planning to align supply with quality, delivery, and cost goals.

Responsibilities include leading RFQs/RFPs, negotiating terms, developing supplier partnerships, and creating dashboards to communicate performance. Hybrid work and cost-management mindset preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 5+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain in manufacturing.
• Experience sourcing raw materials and production-related services.
• Experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing relationships.
• Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
• Strong understanding of supplier management and total cost of ownership.
• Advanced Excel and data visualization skills.
• Ability to create reports and dashboards for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and contract discussions.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and service agreements.
• Develop strategic sourcing plans and supplier partnerships.
• Track cost savings, inventory improvements, and supplier performance.
• Create dashboards and communicate sourcing results to leadership.
• Support new product introductions and supplier transitions.
• Maintain material availability with Operations and Planning.
• Manage supplier risk and continuity plans.
