Job summary

Applied Concepts, Inc. is seeking a Senior Buyer to balance cost, quality, and delivery across assigned commodities. You will build supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and contracts, and manage total landed cost while ensuring supply continuity for manufacturing operations.

You will own commodity strategy, place and manage POs against MRP, and optimize procurement processes. The role requires 7–10 years of buying experience in manufacturing and strong negotiation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or equivalent progressive purchasing experience.
• 7–10 years of buying experience at a manufacturing company, including experience sourcing electronic components (ICs, capacitors, resistors, crystals, connectors).
• Experience developing commodity or category sourcing strategy, not just executing transactions.
• Proven ability to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve favorable outcomes and cost targets.
• Strong command of total cost concepts (total landed cost, cost reduction, avoidance of unfavorable price variances).
• Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills across internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Own your commodity strategy, setting the sourcing approach that balances cost, quality, lead time, and risk.
• Place and manage purchase orders against MRP requirements and manage requisitions.
• Obtain and analyze quotes, negotiate favorable pricing, terms, and contracts.
• Develop and execute strategies to control total landed cost and avoid stock-outs.
• Build and manage supplier relationships and monitor delivery and quality performance.
• Safeguard production against disruption and manage supply continuity and risk.
• Lead changes through the Engineering Change program and related sourcing activities.
• Drive lean improvements and standard work in procurement, including training activities.
• Understand freight terms and select delivery options balancing cost and lead time.
