Job summary

Safran is seeking a Strategic Buyer in New York to manage procurement for plastics and related materials. You will place initial orders, assess supplier readiness, and ensure compliance with contract terms while coordinating with internal teams across functions.

The role requires 2–5 years in manufacturing purchasing, with travel to supplier sites as needed. Strong data analysis, negotiations, and MS Office skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Required: Associate degree in Business Management or equivalent credits in Purchasing related courses.
• Preferred: B.A. in Business.
• Required: 2-5 years materials buyer in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferred: 5-7 years diversified buying experience.
• Other - Willing to travel to supplier facilities as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform formal root cause and data analysis (5 Why's, MAAR charts, Fishbone diagrams).
• Lead or participate in Supply Chain projects such as Greenbelt projects.
• First escalation point for applying and managing contract terms.
• Select suppliers within the Approved Supplier List at SAO level.
• Manage Supplier Relationships including Business Reviews and performance escalations.
• Act as Logistic and Customs escalation point.
• Negotiate amendments or simple contracts (PPA).
• Assist in deployment of strategic targets.
• Understand market and manufacturing processes for Plastics.
• Maintain Kan Ban agreements with Plastics suppliers and verify inventory.
