Job summary

Viejas Casino & Resort in Alpine, CA is seeking a Safety and Claims Officer to assist the Director of Risk and EHS with planning, implementing, and maintaining occupational health, safety, and environmental programs. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of related experience in safety or environmental capacity.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations helpful.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Ability to develop and teach safety courses to groups of all sizes.
• Ability to multitask and work under stress.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining safety, health, and environmental programs.
• Collect, analyze, and evaluate safety, loss, and accident data.
• Identify hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct safety and environmental inspections and training.
• Manage worker’s compensation and liability claims.
• Coordinate return-to-work programs and light-duty accommodations.
• Maintain OSHA logs and incident reports for compliance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal/state laws and standards.
• Communicate progress in weekly meetings and protect company assets.
