Job summary

Cengage Group in the United States is seeking a Proposal Writer for our K-12 learning market to manage the RFP process and coordinate with sales, marketing, and product teams to deliver high-quality proposals. This role reports to the Manager, Sales Operations and Support and emphasizes on-time, compliant submissions and clear, competitive messaging.

Experience with MS Office and Adobe Suite, plus familiarity with proposal software, is preferred.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years experience in proposal management with sales support or writing.
• BA/BS in writing, communications, marketing, or related field.
• Ability to mentor teammates and coordinate proposal efforts within tight deadlines.
• Proven success developing, implementing, and evaluating proposals balancing user needs with business needs.
• Strong interpersonal skills to support internal/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support all aspects of the RFP process from start to finish including vetting and proposal preparation.
• Analyze RFPs to determine compliant response structure and format.
• Generate detailed response plans, schedules, and technical elements.
• Delegate tasks to team members as appropriate.
• Partner with Sales to differentiate proposals and win first impressions.
• Identify gaps and propose improvements to processes, systems, and templates.
• Track and improve RFP responses based on feedback and market research.
• Complete other duties as assigned to meet company goals.
