Job summary

Ollie’s in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a Buyer responsible for sourcing, selecting and procuring products for retail stores. You will communicate with vendors to secure deals that meet margin expectations and manage a high-volume buying workload.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and at least 5 years of retail buying experience, with strong negotiation, pricing, and cross-functional collaboration to drive store performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of retail buying experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and guests.
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
• Ability to complete assignments on the time allotted.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and direct all aspects of the buying process to ensure purchase of the best products at the best price.
• Work closely with vendors to obtain and develop desired products and build relationships.
• Attend trade shows to keep informed of new products and ideas and develop vendor relations.
• Research products and markets for competitive knowledge.
• Set retail and competitive pricing for merchandise.
• Manage the department financials for which they buy.
• Negotiate prices, discount terms and transportation arrangements for merchandise.
• Analyze and monitor sales records, trends and economic conditions to determine sales and how much inventory is needed.
• Manage a high volume of buying workload.
• Complete any additional responsibilities and/or duties as assigned.
