Job summary

Redpath and Company is seeking a strategic Resource Manager in Saint Paul, MN to drive workforce planning and scheduling across Audit and Tax practices. You will forecast resource needs, assign engagements in advance, and partner with leadership to improve utilization and client service.

The role reports to firm leadership and supervises a Resource Assistant, with a focus on scalable processes and forward-looking scheduling. A background in public accounting and advanced Excel is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in public accounting, professional services, workforce planning, project management, scheduling, or resource management.
• Experience balancing workloads and managing competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to confidently make staffing recommendations.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead scheduling and resource allocation across Audit and Tax practices.
• Develop forward-looking staffing plans aligning availability, skills, client needs, and priorities.
• Proactively assign engagements in advance for staffing visibility.
• Monitor capacity and utilization, adjust staffing as needed.
• Provide recommendations on assignments, workload distribution, and staffing needs to leadership.
• Partner with leaders to identify current and future resource needs.
• Analyse utilization trends and capacity constraints to inform staffing decisions.
• Create reports and dashboards on utilization and trends.
• Supervise and mentor the Resource Assistant.
