Job summary

State University of New York at Buffalo is seeking a Buyer to support procurement across a wide range of commodities, equipment, supplies and services for the university’s research community.

The role involves engaging with researchers, vendors and campus stakeholders, utilizing eProcurement to enhance compliance and efficiency while maintaining high levels of service and organization in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products and strong written and oral communications.
• Three (3) or more years’ experience working as part of a team in an academic research, research laboratory or clinical laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Strategic buying of assigned commodities and services
• Provide guidance and training to campus stakeholders on procurement policies, procedures, regulations, and best practices
• Identify potential suppliers for campus use, educate new suppliers on how to do business with the university
• Analyze purchasing requests, spending data, and supplier information to determine appropriate procurement strategies
• Utilize the university’s eProcurement system to support sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities
• Collaborate with campus departments and suppliers to facilitate procurements and resolve purchasing issues
