Job summary

Ryan Specialty, a leading reinsurance provider in the United States, seeks an Executive Reinsurance Underwriter to guide high‑level underwriting decisions and shape complex terms and pricing for the reinsurance portfolio.

You will drive growth, negotiate strategic terms, and ensure regulatory alignment while pursuing innovative underwriting practices and technologies to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 12+ years of experience in Reinsurance Underwriting with a Bachelor’s degree, or 8 years and a Master’s degree.
• State P&C and/or surplus line licenses required.
• Associate in Reinsurance (ARE) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Delivers profitable growth through effective risk selection, premiums, coverage, and drives remediation strategies for Reinsurance business.
• Makes high-level underwriting decisions for complex reinsurance coverage, setting overarching terms, conditions, and pricing strategies.
• Grows reinsurance business with sourcing, underwriting, and execution of assumed reinsurance business through other channels.
• Provides strategic direction and ensures the reinsurance underwriting practices comply with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards and oversees the entire portfolio.
• Leads crisis management efforts related to significant reinsurance events, developing, and implementing strategic risk mitigation plans to safeguard the organization's financial stability.
• Prepares and presents strategic reports on reinsurance activities, performance metrics, and market trends to the executive leadership, offering insights and strategic recommendations.
• Coaches the reinsurance underwriting staff, identifies and adopts technologies and analytical tools that enhance the efficiency and capabilities of the reinsurance underwriting function.
