Job summary

RT Specialty, LLC is seeking an Executive Reinsurance Underwriter to provide strategic direction for high-level underwriting decisions and shape complex coverage terms and pricing strategies. The role leads negotiations, drives growth of the reinsurance book, and aligns with corporate objectives to enhance profitability and market positioning.

The position requires 12+ years in reinsurance underwriting (or 8+ years with a Master’s), a Bachelor's degree, and P&C or surplus line licenses.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
12+ years of experience in Reinsurance Underwriting.
State P&C and/or surplus line licenses required.
Associate in Reinsurance (ARE) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Delivers profitable growth through effective risk selection, premiums, coverage, and remediation strategies for Reinsurance.
Makes high-level underwriting decisions for complex reinsurance coverage, setting terms, conditions, and pricing strategies.
Grows reinsurance business with sourcing, underwriting, and execution of assumed reinsurance through other channels.
Reviews reinsurance proposals and conducts due diligence on cedent practices.
Underwrites policy renewals considering risk factors and market conditions.
Develops annual plan and conducts strategic market analysis for opportunities and threats.
Drives innovation in underwriting practices and adopts new methodologies and tools.
Coaches underwriting staff and identifies technologies to enhance efficiency.
