Job summary

Evonik is seeking a Raw Materials Director to lead sourcing for base petrochemical and inorganic materials in North America. You will collaborate with operations, business lines and global lead buyers to align procurement strategies with corporate goals.

The role requires profound business acumen, a strong network in procurement, and travel to suppliers and plants as needed. A broad background in engineering/chemistry and significant procurement experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; Engineering or Chemistry preferred.
• MBA or equivalent financial experience preferred.
• >10 years procurement or related commercial experience.
• Knowledge of strategic sourcing and purchasing.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; SAP or ERP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for sourcing a defined set of raw materials in North America.
• Develop sourcing strategies with stakeholders aligned to procurement goals.
• Develop and support negotiation strategies and competence.
• Maintain communication with key partners across business lines and supply chain teams.
• Create and implement formal strategies for high-impact raw materials.
• Develop supply chain risk management strategies to mitigate disruptions.
• Identify synergies with other Evonik procurement units.
