Job summary

PPG is seeking a motivated Raw Material Planner to support the Greensboro, NC manufacturing facility. This role partners with Operations, Production Planning, Procurement, and suppliers to ensure material availability, optimize inventory, and strengthen working capital while mitigating supply risks.

You will manage purchase orders, review MRP requirements, and coordinate with multiple teams to resolve shortages and drive continuous improvement across raw material planning and purchasing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in purchasing, material planning, supply chain, inventory management, manufacturing, or related field.
• Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; Oracle, SAP or similar systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create, release, and manage raw material purchase orders to support production requirements and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Review MRP requirements, production demand, inventory positions, lead times, and planning parameters to determine raw material purchasing requirements.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding purchase orders, delivery schedules, shortages, expedit es, lead times, availability, and other supply constraints.
• Monitor raw material inventory and incoming supply to proactively identify shortages, excess inventory, late deliveries, and potential production risks.
• Partner with Production Planning, Operations, Procurement, Quality, Logistics, and other Supply Chain teams to resolve material constraints and support manufacturing priorities.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and planning information within ERP/MRP systems, including purchase orders, delivery dates, supplier commitments, and relevant planning parameters.
• Support inventory optimization, aged and excess inventory reduction, supplier performance, and working capital improvement initiatives.
• Participate in shortage reviews, root cause analysis, process standardization, and continuous improvement activities across Raw Material Planning and Purchasing.
