Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland seeks a Senior Consultant to support the Strategy Funding and Appraisal and Rail Advisory teams on high-profile transport projects. You will combine technical rigor with leadership, client engagement and business development to deliver robust business cases and appraisals that meet public sector standards.

You will lead and contribute to end-to-end studies, build strong client relationships, and mentor junior staff while supporting growth and innovation in transport solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong team player with credible client communication.
• Excellent presentation, written and numerical skills.
• Knowledge of appraisal tools such as TUBA, COBALT and AMAT.
• Knowledge of rail demand forecasting methodologies including PDFH and MOIRA.
• Strong track record in developing business cases across transport modes, especially rail.
• Project management experience in a client-facing environment.
• Chartered Transport Planning professional status would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Proactively support project delivery for the Strategy Funding and Appraisal and Rail teams.
• Manage work packages with focus on client satisfaction, financial performance and targets.
• Take ownership of small to medium proposals; contribute to larger proposals as needed.
• Ensure complex technical tasks are delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget.
• Guide and mentor junior colleagues and support their development.
• Take responsibility for substantial elements of SYSTRA reports and present findings to clients.
• Prepare business cases and option appraisals, covering strategic, economic, and financial aspects.
• Undertake rail appraisal work and demand/revenue forecasting; MOIRA experience desirable.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships across government, authorities, and operators.
