Job summary

ABB is seeking a materials purchaser for its onsite facility in Mebane, NC. The role focuses on issuing purchase orders, supplier performance tracking, and negotiating terms to ensure alignment with corporate policies.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree with 2+ years in purchasing or related fields, or a high school diploma with 5+ years experience, and strong Excel/ERP/SAP Ariba skills. Onsite role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience; or a high school diploma/GED and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 1 year of indirect materials purchasing experience is highly desired.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and purchase orders.
• SAP Ariba experience highly desired.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and data management.
• Experience working within ERP and procurement systems.
• Effective communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or technical environment highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Initiating Purchase Orders in the system according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, and confirming delivery with suppliers.
• Negotiating agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renewing price lists and terms and conditions.
• Recommending frame agreements to management and executing upon approval.
• Analyzing and evaluating bids to determine the optimal value.
