Job summary

Peterson Farms, Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead materials management and logistics at our Hart, MI facility.

You will establish inventory requirements, negotiate with vendors, and manage a team to ensure reliable supply and timely fulfillment. You will partner with Scheduling, Manufacturing and Engineering to optimize material plans, monitor vendor performance, and drive continuous improvement across the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Accounting, or another relevant field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in management with oversight of materials and logistics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Establish inventory requirements based on vendor lead time, operating tempo and new product introductions.
• Partner with Scheduling, Manufacturing and Engineering when developing material and inventory management plans.
• Manage vendor relationships and monitor performance (cost, quality, delivery); source new vendors to obtain best value.
• Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Apply best practices to inventory management to minimize shrink and errors in order fulfillment.
• Ensure ERP data reliability, including cycle counting and physical inventory processes.
• Manage packaging and shipping processes with freight carriers and warehousing firms.
• Track and report key metrics to measure overall material management effectiveness.
• Lead Purchasing, Receiving, Warehouse and Shipping teams; pursue continuous improvement.
