Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead materials management and logistics. You will establish inventory requirements, negotiate vendor contracts and supervise a team, ensuring on-time delivery and cost efficiency.

You will collaborate with Scheduling, Manufacturing and Engineering to optimize plans, manage vendor performance, and maintain ERP data accuracy while driving continuous improvement across the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Accounting, or another relevant field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in management with oversight of materials and logistics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrates teamwork and the ability to lead and develop a team in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Establish inventory requirements based on vendor lead time, operating tempo, and new product introductions.
• Partner with Scheduling, Manufacturing and Engineering to develop material and inventory plans.
• Manage vendor relationships, monitor performance, and source new vendors for best value.
• Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Apply best practices to inventory management to reduce shrink and errors.
• Ensure ERP data reliability, including cycle counting and annual physical inventory.
• Oversee packaging and shipping processes, negotiating with freight carriers and warehousing firms.
• Track and report key metrics to measure material management and logistics effectiveness.
• Manage Purchasing, Receiving, Warehouse, and Shipping teams.
• Apply continuous improvement to all team responsibilities.
