Job summary

SMTC Corporation is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead day-to-day purchasing activities for Melbourne, FL, ensuring material availability and alignment with production commitments.

The role partners with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Supply Chain Analytics to optimize supplier performance and procurement decisions. Leadership and strategic sourcing are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• ASCM CPIM/CSCP etc. certifications preferred.
• 7+ years of procurement/supply chain experience; 3+ years of leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Purchasing team by establishing priorities, providing direction and support, monitoring performance, and developing team capabilities.
• Manage purchasing activities to support material requirements, production schedules, and customer commitments.
• Review MRP requirements and planning inputs with the Purchasing team to ensure purchasing actions align with production demand.
• Manage supplier delivery performance, lead times, material availability, and open purchase orders.
• Lead supplier negotiations related to pricing, delivery, lead times, and terms.
• Engage with cross-functional teams to address shortages, supplier constraints, and inventory concerns.
• Provide direction on shortages and escalations to support production.
