Job summary

TxDOT's Procurement Division seeks a Purchasing Manager to lead statewide purchasing and procurement efforts from the Austin area. The role directs specifications, SOW development, and cross-agency coordination to ensure compliant, efficient procurement operations.

Ideal candidates have 5 years in purchasing (3 in public procurement) with proven supervisory experience, strong vendor relations, and the ability to drive process improvements across a statewide operation.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in purchasing, including 3 years in public purchasing.
• Must have three (3) years supervisory/managerial experience.
• Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees, plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of a purchasing branch.
• Represents the Department at various meetings and liaises with other agencies.
• Responds to inquiries regarding purchasing procedures or specifications.
• Supervises development of specifications and statements of work (SOWs).
• Monitors branch productivity and coordinates with CPA and other agencies.
