Job summary

POLYWOOD in Syracuse, IN is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead strategic sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing operations for a growing manufacturing organization. You will guide a team of purchasing professionals, building sourcing strategies that support quality, service, inventory, cost, and long-term growth.

You’ll negotiate supplier agreements, improve cost performance, strengthen purchasing processes, and stay closely connected to production needs and day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of purchasing or sourcing experience in manufacturing.
• 5+ years of experience leading purchasing, sourcing, procurement, or supply chain teams.
• Experience sourcing raw materials for manufacturing.
• Experience managing domestic and international supplier relationships.
• Strong contract negotiation and vendor management capabilities.
• Experience working with ERP or MRP systems.
• Leadership style that moves between strategy and execution.
• Ability to set clear expectations and coach others.
• Bonus: Sourcing from Asia.
• Bonus: Experience with fasteners, resins, polymers, chemicals, metals, engineered materials, or similar inputs.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of purchasing professionals; establish expectations and accountability.
• Develop sourcing strategies for raw materials, components, fasteners, and production-critical categories.
• Build and manage relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and supplier agreements.
• Evaluate total cost of ownership including quality, lead time, inventory, freight, and risk.
• Identify and deliver cost reductions without compromising quality or operations.
• Improve supplier performance, accountability, and risk management.
• Support new product introductions and changing manufacturing priorities.
• Strengthen purchasing processes, systems, reporting, and team execution.
• Balance long-term strategy with daily material needs of manufacturing.
