Job summary

SMS Mill Services, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Purchasing Agent to join our industrial operations team. The role focuses on executing end-to-end procurement for goods and services, collaborating with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure cost efficiency and uninterrupted operations.

Reporting to the Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, the ideal candidate will have 5+ years in procurement within a heavy industrial environment, exceptional communication, and a structured approach to

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Undergraduate Degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in procurement, contract management, or vendor management in a heavy industrial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Comfortable working with all levels of the organization.
• Structured approach to completing work.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day procurement for operations.
• Work with the business to address purchasing-related issues.
• Manage supplier relationships.
• Prepare and issue Capital Purchase Orders.
• Drive compliance to purchasing agreements.
• Pursue continuous improvement opportunities with existing suppliers.
• Coordinate freight movement, customs documents and related logistics activities.
• Ensure company systems (Coupa & JDE) are used effectively.
• Assist with Accounts Payable-related issues.
• Identify savings and broader value opportunities within supplier relationships.
