Job summary

UPI Global Ingredients in North Carolina seeks a Purchasing Manager to lead the purchasing team, develop sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier terms, and align procurement with demand and strategic goals.

You will collaborate with Sales, Operations, Logistics, and Quality to optimize costs, ensure compliance with REACH/TSCA, and build supplier scorecards. Experience in chemical supply, ERP systems, and leadership is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in supply chain management, chemistry, business administration, or related field.
Minimum five years in purchasing, preferably in chemical manufacturing or distribution.
At least two years in a leadership/supervisory role.
Experience developing purchasing strategies, supplier relationships, and negotiating pricing/terms.
Knowledge of chemical safety and regulatory requirements (OSHA, REACH, TSCA, SDS).
Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage the purchasing team, establishing clear expectations and fostering accountability.
Develop and implement purchasing and sourcing strategies that support cost, quality, delivery goals.
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers; negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts.
Monitor market trends and supply chain vulnerabilities to inform strategies.
Manage inventory levels to balance demand, lead times, and stock.
Collaborate across departments to align purchasing with customer needs and priorities.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues promptly.
Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing for critical materials.
Maintain supplier documentation, SDS, and compliance with REACH/TSCA.
Establish supplier scorecards and KPIs to evaluate cost, quality, and delivery.
