About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading manufacturing organization in Tennessee to identify a Director of Chemical Procurement to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management across a complex, global chemical spend portfolio. This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving cost optimization, supply continuity, and long-term supplier partnerships in a highly regulated and technical environment.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in chemical sourcing, a strong track record of leadership, and the ability to operate cross-functionally with operations, R&D, quality, and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute global procurement strategies for raw materials, specialty chemicals, and intermediates
• Lead supplier negotiations, contracting, and relationship management to drive cost savings and value creation
• Oversee risk management strategies, including dual sourcing, inventory optimization, and supply continuity planning
• Partner with internal stakeholders (Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, Finance) to align procurement with production and innovation goals
• Manage and mentor a high-performing procurement team
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes, systems, and analytics
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., EPA, OSHA, REACH where applicable)
• Monitor market trends, pricing indices, and geopolitical factors impacting chemical supply chains

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS in Supply Chain, Chemistry, or related field) preferred
• 10+ years of procurement/sourcing experience, with significant exposure to chemicals or raw materials
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and influencing executive stakeholders
• Strong negotiation and contract management expertise (e.g., long-term agreements, index-based pricing)
• Experience in manufacturing environments such as chemicals, specialty materials, industrials, or related sectors
• Demonstrated success driving cost savings and supplier performance improvements
• Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking capabilities
