Job summary

Valeo is seeking a Purchasing Intern in Auburn Hills, MI. This year-round, part-time internship provides exposure to strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, and cost optimization within a fast-paced automotive environment.

You will assist with RFQs/RFPs, negotiate contracts, monitor supplier performance, and collaborate with R&D, Quality, Production and Logistics to align purchasing needs with the supply chain.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a student pursuing a Business Degree or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the selection, qualification, and evaluation of suppliers for various commodities and services.
• Support the negotiation of contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure competitive advantage and cost efficiency.
• Prepare and analyze RFQs (Request for Quotation) and RFPs (Request for Proposal).
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (R&D, Quality, Production, Logistics) to define purchasing needs and optimize supply chain processes.
• Maintain and update purchasing databases and systems with accurate supplier and pricing information.
• Participate in cost reduction projects and value analysis initiatives.
• Support the implementation of purchasing strategies and policies.
• Generate reports and provide analysis on purchasing activities, market trends, and supplier performance.
