Job summary

Guilford County, North Carolina seeks a dynamic Chief Financial Officer to lead a 40‑person finance team, directing accounting, debt and cash management, and financial reporting. The CFO will translate complex data into dashboards, optimize MUNIS ERP, and mentor staff to sustain a collaborative culture while aligning fiscal strategy with organizational innovation.

The role requires a strategic, results‑oriented leader who can reside within the two‑hour radius of Guilford County and guide

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible governmental or complex organizational financial management experience, including at least three (3) years in a senior management or supervisory capacity.
Preferred: Master’s degree, CPA credential, NC Local Government Finance Officer designation, LGC/GASB/ACFR expertise, ERP optimization experience (Tyler/MUNIS).

Responsibilities

Oversee accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, debt management, cash management and investments.
Translate complex financial data into dashboards and presentations for stakeholders.
Optimize ERP technology (MUNIS) and cross‑department data workflows.
Mentor department staff to foster a collaborative, high‑performing team culture.
Ensure compliance with GASB standards and ACFR preparation.
