Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Buyer to manage procurement for a 226‑day schedule. The role involves preparing and evaluating RFPs/Bids, advising departments, and ensuring compliance with district and state requirements.

You will lead bid conferences, analyze proposals with MS Excel, and negotiate with vendors to secure quality and timely deliveries at favorable prices. Oracle and MS Office experience are valued as part of daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Two years of indirect experience required.
• Three years of related experience preferred in procurement for districts or similar organizations.
• Knowledge of purchasing laws and bid processes is a plus.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects with strong communication and planning.

Responsibilities

• Review and write RFPs/bids for products and services ensuring compliance with district and federal requirements.
• Identify supply sources and conduct bid/proposal conferences.
• Oversee evaluation and analysis of proposals using MS Excel; document recommendations.
• Negotiate purchase agreements for quality, delivery, and best price.
• Coordinate requisitions with departments on specs, quantities, and delivery.
• Obtain quotations and audit prices for standard materials; suggest substitutions for savings.
• Prepare board-ready recommendations and purchase documentation.
• Expedite purchase orders within policies and approval processes.
• Advise departments on deliveries, availability, terms, and costs.
• Support M/WBE participation goals and compliance.
• Guide schools in securing items for special uses.
