Job summary

The City of Oakland seeks a Budget Administrator to lead centralized budget and fiscal analytical services, guiding citywide budget development, financial planning, forecasting, and performance measurement. You will advise executive leadership and supervise the Budget Bureau to advance fiscal health with transparent processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, economics, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Master’s degree desirable.
• Five years of progressive budget, analytical, and financial management experience in government, with at least three years in supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of financial policies, systems, procedures, and standards.
• Direct major fiscal studies and analyses and communicate strategies to executives, City Council, departments, and stakeholders.
• Develop long-range financial plans and budget processes with accountability and transparency.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop Budget Bureau staff and build organizational capacity.
