Job summary

Charleston County is seeking an Assistant Budget Director to oversee budget functions within the County and related entities. The role includes salary modeling, revenue projections, and capital planning, reporting to the Budget Director and supervising staff.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, 7+ years of government budgeting experience, and supervisory experience. CPA or GFO preferred; SC driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible budget/financial experience in local or state government.
• 3+ years supervising 5+ employees within last 15 years.
• CPA or GFO preferred; GASB/GAS principles knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Act as acting Director during periods of absence.
• Assist Budget Director with development and monitoring of operating budgets and long-term financial plans.
• Perform salary modeling and projections; revenue projections; capital project planning.
• Create and review budget reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Supervise Budget Analysts and coordinate training/leave for staff.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; respond to inquiries.
