Job summary

The Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce seeks a Public Affairs & Leadership Development Director to drive policy, advocacy, and communications aligning with the Chamber's strategic priorities in Rochester, Minnesota.

This full-time, onsite role leads Public Affairs, event planning, partnerships with members, and staff support for Leadership Greater Rochester.

Base annual salary range is $60,000–$68,000; benefits include 401k, health, dental, vision, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, marketing, communications, or related field.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with business members.
• Knowledge of event planning and promotion.
• Strong organizational practices to ensure project timelines and standards are met.
• Experience communicating with diverse audiences, plus presenting and writing.
• Ability to collect and analyze data to identify opportunities and actions.
• Guiding policy initiatives from development to execution to achieve advocacy goals.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Research topics and develop summaries communicating impact to employers and members.
• Communicate policy details to Chamber members in partnership with leadership.
• Track and monitor prioritized legislation.
• Assist in developing the annual legislative agenda.
• Develop relationships with local, state, and federal officials and staff.
• Attend meetings of governmental entities as needed.
• Lead Rochester Chamber Day at the Capitol planning and execution.
• Develop sponsorships for advocacy events.
