Job summary

Howard University seeks a dynamic Project Manager to provide operational oversight for the NOAA NCAS-M II Center, supporting the director and deputy director. You will coordinate research with NOAA and partners, assist staff, and manage meetings, reporting, and communications for the Center.

The role requires a Master’s degree and proven ability to lead multi-stakeholder projects, monitor budgets, and deliver timely, high-quality status updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and at least one year of project management experience.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and process improvement.
  • Experience leading large multi-stakeholder meetings and status updates.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office for creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Experience presenting project data (financial or schedule-related).
  • Ability to adapt to uncertainty and rapid changes.
  • Experience directing diverse scientific and administrative staff.
  • Ability to motivate teams and communicate clearly.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

  • Translate senior leadership’s strategic vision into actionable daily workflows and manage center milestones.
  • Act as primary liaison between directorate and administrative teams.
  • Coordinate cross-institutional efforts across partner campuses.
  • Drive portfolio-level budgets with the budget analyst and obtain final approval.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and manage tracking systems.
  • Synthesize data into draft reports for senior leadership and NOAA submission.
