SIMPLY STAFFED in North Carolina seeks a Strategic Project Engineering Manager to drive automation projects in meat processing. You will translate complex automation needs into innovative solutions, collaborating with partners and cross-functional teams to deliver results.

The role requires proven project management, vendor coordination, and leadership with a focus on cost efficiency and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; 5+ years' experience.
• 2+ years in a leadership role with team development.
• Apply sound engineering principles to operations and design.
• Knowledge of project scheduling for installation/construction.
• Layout and design experience.
• Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets.
• PM and contract administration skills; interpret codes/standards.
• Proficient in engineering economics; AutoCAD proficiency.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and MS Office.
• Ability to travel up to 50% to other locations.
• Knowledge of meat processing/meat industry engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary designs, specs, and cost estimates.
• Conduct feasibility and economic studies for viability.
• Define design criteria per codes; create as-builts.
• Review projects for accuracy and manage vendor/contractor work.
• Coordinate schedules with plant staff, vendors, and contractors.
• Direct equipment vendors on layouts and installations.
• Review consultant outputs and suggest adjustments.
• Maintain docs: manuals, drawings, parts lists, vendor contacts.
• Lead pre-project planning reviews and feasibility assessments.
• Prepare RFPs and evaluate proposals.
• Submit progress reports to management and manage budgets.
• Administer contracts and ensure compliance.
• Prepare project documents: justifications, budgets, plans.
• Monitor installations to meet specs and budgets; control costs.
• Continue improving robotics and controls knowledge.
