Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Program Director to lead a large, complex program with strategic direction, governance and senior leadership across functions. The role emphasizes delivery, safety, quality, and value, with relocation to a program location possible; current program location is Dallas, TX, on a Hybrid model.

You will shape initiation, manage risk, engage clients and stakeholders, and develop senior talent while advancing innovation and digital strategies within a global infrastructure firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in project management, engineering, business, or a related field.
• Typically 20+ years of leadership experience on large or complex programs.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high‑value, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Professional certification (PgMP, APM-RPP, CCM or equivalent) preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership and strategic direction for the program, ensuring alignment with client expectations and long‑term objectives.
• Establish and maintain the program governance framework for effective decision‑making, assurance, and performance oversight.
• Direct and guide senior delivery leaders across technical, commercial, stakeholder, and operational aspects for integrated outcomes.
• Shape strategies for program initiation, mobilization plans, and the systems required for execution.
• Lead client, partner, and stakeholder engagement with credibility and influence.
• Oversee design, delivery, and assurance frameworks ensuring safety, quality and integrity.
• Hold accountability for program‑wide risk management, safety leadership, and environmental stewardship.
• Provide strategic commercial oversight including contract strategy and governance.
• Champion innovation and digital strategy to enhance program effectiveness and value.
• Develop and empower senior program management talent and succession planning.
• Represent the program in industry forums to strengthen reputation and opportunities.
• Identify and support strategic business development initiatives.
