Job summary

Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Production Scheduler in Chicago, IL. You will supervise production planning activities, develop schedules, and coordinate workflows to meet customer demand and operational goals.

The role requires a minimum of five years in manufacturing, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with SAP and Excel. Onsite attendance is mandatory, with opportunities for growth within a leading steel tube producer.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong teamwork and cross-functional coordination abilities.
• Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of SAP is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to maintain regular onsite attendance.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
• Experience with inventory management, material planning, and production reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule tube mill operations to meet production targets and customer demand.
• Develop and maintain weekly rolling production schedules.
• Review material requirements against inventory; expedite materials as needed.
• Prepare and schedule slit processes and issue subcontracted slitting purchase orders.
• Communicate daily with material suppliers and subcontract vendors about schedules and issues.
• Analyze demand versus capacity and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide lead‑time and material availability information to the sales team.
• Monitor inventory levels to support production efficiency.
• Maintain production planning records and reports to ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate workflow across departments in line with manufacturing sequences and lead times.
• Track project status and adjust schedules as needed.
• Report on production performance using planning systems.
• Prepare production and scheduling reports.
• Coordinate delivery and movement of critical materials; initiate replacements as needed.
