Job summary

Kemps in Rockford, IL is seeking a Production Planning Manager to optimize schedules, manage inventory and materials, and coordinate logistics and procurement to meet customer needs while supporting efficient plant operations. You will lead supervisors and staff, drive kaizen and KPI reporting, and partner with HR for staffing.

A business degree and 5–8 years in production planning with leadership are expected; strong Excel skills and willingness to learn new systems are essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in business or related curriculum preferred.
• 5 to 8 years of production planning or related experience with leadership attributes; 1+ year of manager experience preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing process flow and importance to process; strong understanding of facility utility infrastructure and its impact to production throughput.
• Skill in leadership and coaching; knowledge of supervision, training, and personnel management.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and adapt to new systems quickly.
• Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operational activities of supervisors and production staff to ensure orders are received, scheduled, and produced at the lowest possible cost while meeting safety and quality standards.
• Oversee recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance management; apply union contracts and HR policies.
• Manage procurement and coordination of all raw ingredients and packaging material.
• Oversee and manage inventory of work in progress and finished goods.
• Lead kaizen events, corrective actions, and audits.
• Develop and maintain programs, spreadsheets and other records to ensure information is current.
• Track and report KPI’s as identified by the organization.
