About the Role:

The Strategic Product Specialist is the key product person covering the Equity Analytics Products for Japan. These products include Securities Finance (SF), ETF & Benchmarking Solutions (EBS) and Dividend Forecasting (DF). The primary product focus will be with the Securities Finance.

All these products are used by institutional investors and Sellside market professionals. Our data and services allow users to optimize their trading performance/efficiency, enhance investment decisions, undertake quantitative & academic research, and market benchmarking.

Securities Finance (SF)

Our Securities Finance data is sourced directly from leading industry practitioners and spans securities lending & borrowing, repo, short interest, market sentiment across the globe.

This data is transformed to provide market intelligence for prime brokers, banks, custodians, beneficial owners, hedge funds and asset (quant) managers.

ETF & Benchmarking Solutions (EBS)

The EBS business is made up of two main product lines.

  • Exchange Traded Products (ETP) - Access global multi-asset ETP data, including creation, redemption, tracking, excluded assets, and holdings baskets, reference data and iNAV calculations.
  • Index Management - Access global multi-asset Index data, including changes to constituents’ number of shares, free float, additions, and deletions.

Dividend Forecasting (DF)

The DF business estimates the amount and timing of dividend payments for global securities based on equity research, market announcements, and unique quantitative insight. Forecasting out for five years, our global forecasting universe of 32,000+ stocks offers unrivalled coverage.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an SPS you will work closely with Sales, Client Services, Account Management, Marketing, Operations, and Product Development teams to ensure we optimize the value of our products and exceed our customers’ expectations by delivering a first-class service/solution.

You will be responsible for the delivery of the Equity Analytics products for Japan. Working with existing clients to enhance their product experience whilst combing with our sales and marketing teams engage new clients.

It will be important to maintain deep market and product expertise understanding how our customers use our data & solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

Products

  • Product knowledge: Maintain an in-depth understanding of the EAP products, including their capabilities, limitations, and future development roadmaps.
  • Competition: understand the landscape of competing products and how to stay ahead of them.
  • Product development: understand the local business environment, industry trends, needs of customers, uncover inefficiencies and translate these into product ideas.

Existing Clients

  • Engage with existing & prospective customers via product demo’s,market events & news, research, regulatory changes, technical product requirements
  • Identify and advocate for new commercial opportunities based on client interest, collaborating with product heads to drive revenue growth
  • Help customers and support teams with technical or new/enhanced product requirements.
  • Arrange regular client reviews to update on product development, training requirements, information sharing, idea generation.
  • Data analysis to identify trends and identify opportunities to enhance or expand the client product experience.
  • Drive our marketing agenda to enhance our product profiles, e.g. establish regular industry events, leverage social media, etc.
  • With support from client services, product and sales, monitor client coverage and strive to expand this coverage through regular client interactions.
  • Collaborate with client services to analyse client queries and enhance our effectiveness.

Prospects

  • Business strategy: work with Sales, Marketing, and the product leadership to determine the focus and priorities across customer segments and the services and drive the execution of the strategy.
  • Sales support: organize campaigns, provide product demos and other pre-sales activities, e.g. presenting technical product information & managing data trials.
  • Commercial: Consult with APAC product head to build proposals
  • Provide & explain research & analysis.

Post-sales Support

  • Post-sales support: work with Customer Support and the customers on the new account set up, implementation and the training of new customers.
  • Track clients’ product portfolios and leverage insights about product offerings and client needs to introduce new products and identify commercial opportunities.
  • Identify and advocate for new commercial features based on client interest, collaborating with product heads to drive revenue growth.
  • Proactively communicate new features to existing clients and prospects, providing necessary training and demonstrations.

Client-Centric Expertise: The SPS must possess strong interpersonal skills, ensuring effective communication with clients while providing technical insights across EBS, SF & DF products.

Industry Expertise: Recent experience in or a solid understanding of the Securities Finance industry.

Market Insight: An understanding of how data (S&P Global) products inform client decision-making. This includes up to date knowledge of Japanese and global financial market developments and trends.

Collaborative Approach: The SPS collaborates with Sales, Operations, and Product Development teams, ensuring alignment in strategy and service delivery.

Communication/Analytical Skills: The ability to communicate usage trends and feedback is essential for enhancing client experiences and identifying growth opportunities.

  • Fluent English & Japanese
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex problems,
  • Convey intricate technical concepts clearly,
  • Business quality written correspondence,
  • Highly proficient excel or API scripting

Highly desired qualifications and skills:

  • Proven engagement in new technologies, including AI
  • Quantitative skills are an advantage
