Job summary

Parker Hannifin is seeking a Buyer in Michigan to manage procurement of materials and services, collaborate with suppliers, and ensure on-time delivery. The role reports to the Material Manager within the Motion Systems Group and Hydraulic Pump & Motor Division, and involves working within a dynamic engineering-focused environment.

The ideal candidate has a 4-year degree in supply chain or related field, strong analytical and communication skills, and experience with supplier evaluation, RFQs,

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree in Supply Chain management or relevant discipline.
• Experience and/or exposure to supply chain concepts and methodologies, and manufacturing through internships or training programs.
• Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.
• Must have intermediate computer skills and be able to understand electronic processing.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to the inventory reduction program by consistently evaluating inventory levels to prevent and/or identify excess.
• Track sequence and lead times of manufacturing operations using schedules from Division Production Control Manager or the Material Planning Manager.
• Identifies and recommends suppliers by investigating potential suppliers, researching parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability.
• Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates them as to production capability, performance, delivery, and other criteria; may complete supplier certification.
• Purchases parts, equipment, and materials by preparing RFQs and issuing purchase orders with approved suppliers; maintain lead times for assigned commodities.
• Evaluates bids for standard and non-standard items; negotiates price, delivery, quality and service; develops alternate sources; monitors supplier performance.
