Job summary

The County of Riverside's University Health System - Medical Center seeks a Buyer II to join their Purchasing team in Riverside. Qualifications

• Education: 30 semester or 45 quarter units from an accredited college with major coursework in purchasing, business administration, economics, or related field.
• Experience: One year of buying experience in a Purchasing Department or Agency, including mid-value procurements ($10,000–$25,000).
• Option II: Two years of buying experience equivalent to Buyer I with mid-value procurements.
• Physical Requirement: sedentary position; sit for long periods with optional sit-stand desk.

Responsibilities

• Confer with County officials on purchasing procedures, needs, bids, and special programs.
• Prepare and develop contracts with commercial vendors.
• Perform market and cost analyses to formulate purchasing forecasts and RFPs/BIDs.
• Initiate purchasing in major functional areas; negotiate contracts; discuss specifications with department directors.
• Issue purchase orders and provide approvals per procurement policy.
• Investigate department complaints and monitor product status and market conditions.
• In lead capacity, supervise and guide support staff.
