Job summary

The Buyer at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's Procurement Services is responsible for processing procurement of all commodities and services in compliance with state and university policies. This regular day-shift position handles purchase orders, vendor communications, and bidding processes.

Qualifications include an associate degree in Business or Finance or equivalent experience, plus at least two years procurement experience.

Qualifications

• Required education and experience: Associates degree in Business or Finance or four years of relevant experience, plus at least two years in procurement, bookkeeping, basic accounting, or related work.

Responsibilities

• Process orders in automated procurement system and manage purchase orders, including quotes or contacts.
• Review requests to determine need for term contracts; develop contracts and specifications; identify bidders and notify potential bidders.
• Interview and work with vendors to obtain and develop desired products.
• Prepare specifications for competitive bids; manage bid openings, evaluation criteria and vendor list; award bids.
• Examine, select, order, and purchase merchandise at best price while meeting quality and quantity specs.
• Expedite and review purchase orders, invoices, returns, and shipments.
• Maintain vendor ordering accounts for office supplies in procurement system and online.
• Maintain requisitions and purchase orders for documentation related to the purchase.
