Job summary

Abbott Construction in Nashville, TN, seeks a results-driven estimator/leadership professional to guide estimating and planning support teams. You will monitor budgets, ensure accurate buy-out data, and drive cost history for improved pricing models.

The role requires strong communication, ability to manage multiple projects, and willingness to travel as needed. You will work with executives, estimators, and clients to develop profitable scopes and procurement strategies.

Qualifications

  • BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years construction-related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
  • Utilizes good judgment and remains efficient while under stress.
  • Capable of communicating effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the construction process.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, organizational skills, task oriented.
  • Must be willing to travel if required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for estimating and planning support personnel.
  • Monitor project budgeting and buy-out processes for reliable estimates.
  • Communicate cost history for better cost modeling and estimating.
  • Monitor planning support processes for efficient resource use.
  • Coordinate with marketing on relevant information and brand recognition.
  • Assist in evaluating, planning and executing new scope of services and profit centers.
  • Monitor productivity and cost control on projects.
  • Attend project review meetings and resolve budget problems.
  • Plan and implement training for estimators.
  • Oversee business development activities including client relationships and procurement strategies.
  • Oversee sales activities from lead qualification to RFQ/SOQ/RFP responses.
  • Establish goals, procedures, systems, and tools for sales/marketing tasks.
  • Commit the company in the project procurement process for SBU projects.
  • Supervise Estimating activities and personnel and manage team outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Executives, Estimating staff, and clients.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Represent Abbott Construction in the community at industry events.
