Job summary

The Financial Clearance Specialist II at Trinity Health MI ensures pre-service financial clearance and collects patient liabilities before service. You verify insurance, benefits, authorizations, and start the billing process with the scheduling and care teams.

You manage complex, high-dollar services across multiple facilities, require 5+ years in financial clearance, HFMA CRCR within 1 year, and proficiency with patient registration systems. An Associate's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 to 5 years experience in scheduling, financial clearance, or patient access.
• National HFMA CRCR certification required within 1 year of hire.
• Proficient in Patient Registration/Patient Accounting systems and related software.

Responsibilities

• Performs insurance eligibility/benefit verification and documents in the EMR system.
• Collects patient liabilities (co-pays, deductibles, etc.) at pre-registration and educates patients.
• Validates medical necessity (LMRP/LCD) for Medicare and Non-Medicare cases and coordinates with staff.
• Maintains knowledge of laws/policies and supports cross-training within the department.
