Job summary

University of Utah seeks an experienced Pre-Construction Project Manager to lead planning, budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder engagement for capital projects. You will coordinate with architects, engineers, and facilities teams to ensure projects are properly scoped and positioned for success.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or equiv.) in a related field and multiple years of related experience, with potential for progression to senior levels based on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) + 6 years of related work experience for level III or a master’s degree (or equivalency) + 4 years for level III/IV/ V.
• Experience managing design, construction, facilities, or capital projects and coordinating scope, schedules, and budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex capital projects with diverse stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital projects through programming, planning, and pre-construction phases.
• Coordinate project initiation, feasibility studies, and project scope development.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, cost estimates, and funding projections.
• Review plans and documents for alignment and feasibility, identify risks and mitigation strategies.
• Lead meetings and provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, codes, accessibility standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate campus infrastructure impacts during planning and procurement activities.
• Prepare executive summaries, presentations, and recommendations for leadership review.
