The American College of Surgeons is seeking a Public Relations and Policy Communications Lead to craft and execute a modern media strategy across traditional and digital outlets. You will translate clinical, organizational, and policy priorities into compelling stories that reach reporters, surgeons, hospitals, and policymakers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive public relations/media relations experience in a high-visibility organization.
• Experience covering health policy and federal legislative issues.
• Proven leadership experience with strategic media campaigns.
• Active relationships with reporters across health and policy outlets.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead a modern media relations strategy for traditional, digital, and podcast outlets.
• Craft messages articulating ACS value to media, surgeons, and policymakers.
• Develop new pitch angles aligned with current events and trends in health policy.
• Collaborate with Advocacy & Health Policy to broaden awareness of policy priorities.
• Maintain a strong media network and monitor coverage to identify opportunities.
