Job summary

Valencia College is seeking a Director, Policy & Legal Affairs to lead a high-impact portfolio spanning policy, legal affairs, public records, compliance, and government relations at the West Campus in Orlando. The role reports to the Vice President for Policy and General Counsel and shapes college-wide policy while coordinating complex compliance and litigation matters.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical judgment, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and experience

Qualifications

• Requires Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in legal services, policy development, legislative affairs or related field; experience with records requests, subpoenas or litigation discovery.
• Preferred: Juris Doctor (J.D.) and 4–6 years of administrative experience in a complex university or government setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead policy-development and policy-maintenance processes for college-wide policies and procedures.
• Coordinate intake, processing, response, and tracking of records requests and litigation discovery.
• Maintain policy management systems, dashboards, and governance processes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory activity affecting Florida public colleges and summarize potential impact.
• Collaborate with college stakeholders to ensure policies align with laws and strategic goals.
